Corix receives TELUS’ 2016 Vancouver Business Community Champion Award

VANCOUVER, BC – On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, TELUS announced CORIX Group of Companies (Corix) as a recipient of its 2016 TELUS Business Community Champion Award.

The award recognizes companies who embrace TELUS' “Give Where We Live” philosophy through corporate social responsibility efforts. Marina Perera, Corix’s TELUS account manager, nominated Corix for demonstrating leadership in creating a culture of giving within the organization.

Glenn Laufer, Divisional Controller for Corix Water Products and Corix’s Corporate Giving representative, accepted the award on behalf of the company at TELUS’ Celebration of Giving in Vancouver.

“Corporate giving is ingrained in the Corix culture,” said Glenn. “We build sustainable communities, and that includes supporting charities in the communities where we work and live.”

Corix encourages employees to give back to their communities. Local groups organize charitable programs, from working in soup kitchens to supporting youth sports teams. The company also works with customers and vendors to raise money for fundraisers and events through its Corporate Giving Program. Golf for Kids, Corix’s largest corporate initiative, has raised $4.3 million over 18 years for charities and programs that support BC children and families in need.

In honour of Corix’s partnerships with local charities, TELUS will be donating $2,000 and a one-year subscription to a new TELUS service (valued at $1,500) to Corix’s charity of choice, the United Way.

“Thank you TELUS for recognizing our ongoing community initiatives and efforts,” said Glenn. “I can’t think of a better reward than the opportunity to keep paying it forward.”
