Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Place

Jul 11, 2023

UPDATE - Thursday, July 13, 16:30

We are still awaiting test results from the laboratory. As per the requirements of the health authority, the precautionary Boil Water Advisory is in place until these results are received and testing confirms water is safe to drink.

UPDATE - Tuesday, July 11, 14:45

The water leak has been repaired and the flow of water to the reservoir has been restored. As such, water conservation measures are no longer required. You may experience slight water discolouration and/or trapped air in the system: this is normal and will clear within a few hours.

Please note, as a precautionary measure, a Boil Water Advisory is in place until further notice.

Yesterday, a significant leak was detected in the Sun Rivers water system. This leak affects our ability to replenish the potable water reservoir. Crews are working to repair the leak today (Tuesday, July 11), but water levels will remain low and customers may experience fluctuating water pressure and temporary water outages. We expect conditions to return to normal over the next couple days.

To help replenish the system, we are asking customer to use water for essential purposes only, and refrain from using water for uses such as watering lawns/gardens, washing clothes, vehicles, etc.

Additionally, we will be implementing a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory. This will be in place until testing determines that water remains safe to drink.

We apologize for this inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience.

Precautions During a Boil Water Advisory

During a Boil Water Advisory, tap water used for the following purposes should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute prior to use.

  • Drinking and ice cubes
  • Liquids or food (e.g. tea or soup) that will not be boiled for at least one (1) minute
  • Washing fruits and vegetables being eaten raw
  • Brushing teeth or cleaning dental and medical appliances
  • Preparing baby food and infant formula
  • Bathing infants

Adults, adolescents, and older children may shower, bathe, or wash using tap water, but should avoid swallowing water. It’s recommended to sponge bathe infants if using tap water. Tap water may be used for dishes washed by machine but add bleach to water used for dishes washed by hand. Water used for other household purposes does not need to be boiled.

This Advisory will be rescinded once the water has been demonstrated safe to drink. Please check this News & Notices page for updates. Should you have questions, please contact Corix Customer Care.
